What were the rendertimes like for the hi-res versions?

Hi,

i use the IM+LC method. The rendertime is about 1.5h for each image (octa 2.83 Ghz)

Looking really great, cecofuli ! As always it´s amazing how much you can squeeze out of the textures.
How do you render the carpets ? By using a displacement in the bump slot or by using the modifier on the
geometry ? And how much RAM is in your machine ?
I never get solid results with the Bump slot method on my 2GB RAM...

Hi,

the carpet is a VRayDisplaceModifier (Noise map) with bitmap in the diffuse channel.
My machine is Octa 2.83 with 8 GB FB-DIMM Ram.

Ciao :)

Ciao, Cecofuli,

thanks for the tip. Works good for me, with 3GB (out of 4) now. But still it seems like a heavy workload for the machine and I´ll upgrade to 64Bit soon.

I know it´s a tough question, but would you be so kind to shed some light on your render settings for that specific scene ?
Or will you unfold your favourite setting in the book anyway ? (I´ll buy it anyway, no matter whatl... :-) )
Or maybe in a tutorial...

Best,
marty
